Synthesis of chitosan and N-vinylimidazole graft-copolymers and the properties of their aqueous solutions

The aim of this work is to synthesise chitosan and N-vinylimidazole graft-copolymers various compositions study the properties their aqueous solutions.Chitosan were obtained by solution polymerisation in presence a ceric ammonium nitrate redox initiator. synthesised graft copolymers characterised FTIR determine grafted side chains poly-N-vinylimidazole gel permeation chromatography molecular wights polydispersity indices. It was established that products are high values yield grafting efficiency low index. found when content links above 57 wt%, water-soluble. Aqueous solutions using dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy, laserDoppler microelectrophoresis. showed macromolecules have stimuli-sensitive with respect medium reaction at concentration 10–2 wt% tendency self-association forming core-crown aggregates, geometry which depends on masses chains.
